OUR FIRST VIDEO GAME PROJECT: The TIERLIST VIDEO PROJECT. Please spend time today putting together your INTRO for your video game creations this quarter. Your intro should let your viewers know WHO you are and should give viewers some idea of what type of content you might be creating. Often this is just plugged into the first 3-5 seconds of a video, closely followed by an explanation of what you will be discussing in your video.

BELLRINGER: It's time for the FINAL EXAM for 3DS MAX. YAY! Start working on this today. I recommend working through the WRITTEN PART of the exam first, then begin working on the MINI-PROJECT. This is DEFINITELY a two day exam!
Please remember, I need to have all of the assignments below through Chapter 9 and 11 in the gradebook THIS WEEK!
OPTIONAL: CAR CRASH- Make a second copy of the CAR RACE and animate the Car Race to include a JUMP in the middle of the race where all of the cars crash and fly around (use either Curve Editor or simple KEYFRAME animation to complete this!). Bonus points for inclusion of a lava pit.
Create a set of four STANDARD PRIMITIVES. Use the Bend, Twist, Ripple, Melt modifiers, one on each primitive. (See Exercises at end of chapter). ADD two other primitives and two other modifiers of your choosing. SAVE as MODIFIERS in your Chapter 5 folder.
The MEADOW: Create a plane from the Standard Primitives command panel. Use the Hair and Fur (WSM) Modifier to add GRASS to your plane. EXPERIMENT with all of the parameters for your grass! Then, use the CREATE Tab and pull down AEC EXTENDED> FOLIAGE to add some TREES to your grass. Use the BEND modifier to bend your trees, as if the wind was blowing. Save as MEADOW in your Chapter 5 folder.
The MOLECULAR CHAIN: Create a PLANE (Length= 300, Width= 60, Length Segments= 11, Width Segments= 1) from the Standard Primitives command panel. Try using the TWIST and the LATTICE modifiers on your plane to create a molecular chain, see below. CHALLENGE: How can you make this molecule TWICE as long, while maintaining the same proportions?
Use the "Try it Yourself" exercise at the top of page 80 to create a RECOGNIZABLE figure or object of your choice. THIS SHOULD BE CREATED FROM A SINGLE PRIMITIVE!
Franklin (make sure that you use soft selection for the nose and horns and chamfer for the eyes and mouth), Try using a TURBO SMOOTH modifier on Franklin. What happens? NOTE: DO NOT increase iterations above 6!

BELLRINGER: As a change of pace and a break from chapters in the book, we will be working on the "Wooden Table Challenge." We will start the day with a demonstration of proper tools and techniques to create this table. Then students will complete the model on their own. I will be grading on the precision and accuracy of your model, so please give strong effort!
RULES FOR CHAPTER COMPLETION:
Create a CHAPTER_# folder on your RED DRIVE/3DSMAX folder for each chapter that you complete. Save ALL of your work and practice files to this folder as you go.
Carefully review all chapter materials, either through the book or video tutorials.
Make sure to complete ALL of the "TRY IT YOURSELF" exercises in each chapter. If appropriate, SAVE these files to your CHAPTER folder.
Complete the PRACTICE ASSIGNMENT listed in the table below. Save file to your CHAPTER folder.
Complete the INDEPENDENT PROJECT (listed below) for the chapter. Save file to your CHAPTER folder.
Complete the chapter quiz, linked below. If you have completed all chapter elements and receive an 80 percent on the chapter quiz, you can move on to the next chapter.
WORK DAY: You need to be finishing up Chapters 2 and 3 and starting to create actual figures in Chapter 4 by the end of class today!
PLEASE NOTE: The narrator in the videos often uses the "APPLICATION BUTTON," a large logo button in the upper left corner of his screen. More recent versions of 3DS Max have done away with this button and have just put its functions, like SAVE, RESET, etc. into the FILE DROPDOWN MENU.
