SUMMARY
(coming soon)
BELLRINGER: We meet to discuss our new unit: FUSION. This is actual work and actual learning. You will be creating recognizable models from the first day, but you ABSOLUTELY need to know what you are doing, or you will be completely lost. Please review each video tutorial closely, rewinding and reviewing as needed.
WORK DAY:
FIRST (I think everyone has done this already, but just in case...): You will need to create an Account with AutoDESK. I THINK that everyone has accepted the invite from AutoDESK to be an authorized user. Please check your school email for this today if this does not sound familiar.
We will also need to open FUSION and attempt to sign in. Unfortunately, this may be tougher than it should be. If you get an ERROR message when you try to "SIGN IN", do the following:
Open a separate Google Chrome window. Click on the three dots in the upper right corner.
Click SETTINGS
On the left side of your screen, click DEFAULT BROWSER.
Click to set Google Chrome as your DEFAULT BROWSER. Microsoft may try to convice you to use Edge by bringing up some windows. Keep insisting on Chrome.
Now, return to Fusion and reclick to LOG IN.
Click to START A NEW ACCOUNT.
Please use your SCHOOL EMAIL for your AutoDESK account. You may need to jump through some account creation hoops here. Do your best or ask for help, if necessary.
Once you have your account, OPEN FUSION. Click that you want to DESIGN and then click NEW.
Download the PAPERCLIP image to your LESSON 3 folder, you will need it for the first problem.
Then, work on the 3D NAME, make sure to include the WOODEN BASE!
CHALLENGE PROBLEM: (not optional, do it!) Complete the GLASS AND STRAW.

FOR TODAY: We have two full class periods between now and the end of the quarter, when your HOUSE is due. Please work on the AUTOCAD NON-TEST FINAL EXAMINATION.
BELLRINGER:We've been working pretty hard lately. Let's take a little break and watch some video from some of my very favorite YouTuber's- VIVA LA DIRT LEAGUE. You will need to answer some questions on the VIVA LA DIRT LEAGUE MENTAL HEALTH VIDEOS THINKING SHEET.
FOR TODAY: After our movies, please work on the AUTOCAD NON-TEST FINAL EXAMINATION. You absolutely need to be working on your HOUSE part of the FINAL EXAM.
BELLRINGER: Hard to believe, but we only have 6 class periods left in the quarter and therefore, in AutoCAD.
I want to go over the AUTOCAD NON-TEST FINAL EXAMINATION. This is a VERY extensive project and will take a lot of your time between now and the end of the quarter, so start on it as soon as you can.
BELLRINGER: It's Friday, it's Homecoming, it's Mr. Burkhard's Birthday! That means MOVIE DAY! How about we watch a BUNCH of movies? Of course, you can't watch movies with Mr. B. without some QUESTIONS... Please complete the "FIVE MOVIES THINKING SHEET."
And just because he likes the movie so much, we will also complete the MODEL CITIZEN THINKING SHEET. That makes SIX MOVIES in one day! Yay!

BELLRINGER: Mr. Burkhard is out sick today. We will try to have a movie day on Monday to make up for missing it today. Sorry! In the meantime...
Please complete the CHALLENGE PROBLEM below.
BELLRINGER: IT'S CHALLENGE DAY. It won't really be all the much of a challenge for most of you, though. First off, make yourself a CHALLENGE folder on your RED DRIVE space. Please put it at the same folder level as your AUTOCAD FOLDER. We will put lots of files in here before the end of the year.
Please create a properly DIMENSIONED and accurate DRAWING of the FRONT and SIDE VIEWS of the BLOCK that we drew the first day of class.
I would like you to use CONSTRUCTION LINES to make sure that your figure is the same size on both sides. CONSTRUCTION LINES are found in the DRAW ribbon and look like this:
and create guidance lines on your workspace, so that you can line up objects properly.
I will be grading this as a CHALLENGE PROBLEM, so save it to your CHALLENGE folder and call it 2D_BLOCK.dwg. Challenge problems are always worth 20 points in the gradebook!
FOR TODAY:
OUR CURRENT ASSIGNMENT: AutoCAD 6: RECTANGULAR and POLAR ARRAYS. This is a very lengthy assignment and will likely take us several days to complete. Please use all of the tricks and techniques that we have been learning recently on this assignment, such as MIRROR. It will make you life much easier!
BELLRINGER: It's WEDNESDAY! Yay! How about a TOUGH puzzler? I have given this puzzler out three other years and the ONLY PERSON who ever has gotten it correct was Mr. Autry. Are you are sharp as Mr. Autry? Try the puzzler and see! I'll even give you all class period to think about it. Here it is: THE WEIRD WORDS PUZZLER THINKING SHEET.
The rules: You can't discuss this puzzler with anyone else. You could try to look the answer up on the internet, but last year, when I asked Gemini AND ChatGPT, neither one had ANY idea what I was talking about, even AFTER I explained the answer. I checked again THIS year and both figured out the problem in less than 20 seconds. AI is evolving! Can you keep up?

BELLRINGER:Work on completing your BLOCK DRAWINGS at the start of class today! You have 30-40 minutes! I have decided that COMPLETION of this project is what is important. I will give all students a 25/25 grade if they do their best to complete the front, side and isometric view of this block, even if they look a little rough. This is supposed to be a "Pre-test," after all....
FOR TODAY: The class has a BLOCK PROJECT to complete. Mr. B. would really like it if we could complete that today:
PART ONE: Your drawing must include ALL of the following:
PROPORTIONAL VIEWS of the FRONT, SIDE and ISOMETRIC VIEW of the block.
DIMENSIONS for all LINES and CIRCLES on the drawing.
When you are done, please use your phone to take a PHOTOGRAPH of your drawing and transfer/save it to your student COLOR DRIVE folder. This will be a graded assignment and will be part of your Technology portfolio for our end of year "Measure of Student Learning."
What are we struggling with? How could this process be easier? By the way, the BEST drawing receives a decent prize.
STILL ASSIGNED, JUST PUSHED BACK A DAY OR SO-AutoCAD LINES: (Make an AutoCAD_1 folder in your folder on your color drive. Save all of your files there.)
