CLASS SUMMARY (coming soon)

BELLRINGER:Work on completing your BLOCK DRAWINGS at the start of class today! You have 30-40 minutes!

FOR TODAY: The class has a BLOCK PROJECT to complete. Mr. B. would really like it if we could complete that today:

  • PART ONE: Your drawing must include ALL of the following:
    • PROPORTIONAL VIEWS of the FRONT, SIDE and ISOMETRIC VIEW of the block.
    • DIMENSIONS for all LINES and CIRCLES on the drawing.
  • When you are done, please use your phone to take a PHOTOGRAPH of your drawing and transfer/save it to your student COLOR DRIVE folder. This will be a graded assignment and will be part of your Technology portfolio for our end of year "Measure of Student Learning."

What are we struggling with? How could this process be easier? By the way, the BEST drawing receives a decent prize.

STILL ASSIGNED, JUST PUSHED BACK A DAY OR SO-AutoCAD LINES: (Make an AutoCAD_1 folder in your folder on your color drive. Save all of your files there.)

  1. A Quick AutoCAD assignment: Use the LINE command to create a 3-D version of your name. Here is a sample of one done by Mr. B. Save this drawing to your AutoCAD_1 folder as "lastname_3-D.dwg." This is DUE TODAY!
  2. Our First AutoCAD Project: AutoCAD 1- LINES. Save all of these completed files to your AutoCAD_1 folder. These should be be completed by the end of NEXT CLASS PERIOD.
  3. WHAT IS NEXT?: AutoCAD 2: CIRCLES and TRIM. (Make an AutoCAD_2 folder in your TECHNOLOGY_I folder on your network space. Save all of your files there for this assignment.)

VIDEO TUTORIALS FOR TODAY- AutoCAD CIRCLES, Video #36: In the video, he opens a file to demonstrate creating circles. You do not have that file, but you can easily make his figures without his file.

AutoCAD TRIM/EXTEND, Video #50: In the video, he opens a file to demonstrate TRIM/EXTEND. You do not have that file, practice the techniques on your own screen!

What are we struggling with? How could this process be easier?

IF WE HAVE TIME TODAY (we probably won't)

HOUSEKEEPING: We log in to our computers, find AutoCAD and open the program, so that we can see what happens. We also get our COLOR drives, with instructions on how to use them.

AUTOCAD LEARNING, PART ONE: Mr. B. does a demonstration of the basic layout of AutoCAD and points out some areas of the screen that we need to care about at the beginning. We also review how to draw lines, how to use polar tracking, snap grid and object snap

AUTOCAD PRACTICE, PART TWO: AutoCAD LINES: (Make an AutoCAD_1 folder in your folder on your color drive. Save all of your files there.)

  1. A Quick AutoCAD assignment: Use the LINE command to create a 3-D version of your name. Here is a sample of one done by Mr. B. Save this drawing to your AutoCAD_1 folder as "lastname_3-D.dwg."
