THINGS FOR THIS WEEK:

• You have a WRITING ASSIGNMENT regarding the FIVE CLASSROOM ACTIVITY PHOTOGRAPHS that you took last week. Please write an EXTENDED CAPTION that describes the activity and the photos. Make this at least a 2 paragraph writing, complete with quotes.
• EARLY CAPTION ASSIGNMENTS are still not put into the gradebook, because Mr. B. screwed up. This WILL happen in the very near future!
• We will be going over PHOTOGRAPHY BASICS in class tomorrow. There will be an assignment that goes along with this.
• We need to get ready for our meeting with the GRAPHIC DESIGNER regarding our cover soon.
• We need to get our LADDER completed and sent to DANA asap.
• We have not made a single SOCIAL MEDIA POST so far this year. Is anyone willing to step up and help with this?
• There are LOTS of activities and sporting events this week. WHO is willing to step up to take pictures?
• BUSINESS ADS should be in full swing! Submit your completed order forms to Mr. B. or to Madison.

• FIFTH PERIOD:
  • TRADITIONS: We spend some time discussing TRADITIONS at high school, Highland in particular. I want to make a table that includes a BIG LIST of the different traditions that each class/faculty go through each year.
  • BUSINESS ADS: If you have any ads, please get the information to MADISON for entry into yearbookavenue.com. Make sure you have a completed YELLOW INVOICE with company information, copy information and payment information on it. If you have turned in your syllabus with proper checkmarks, you COULD sign out to go sell ads this period.
  • SENIORS: Jayla and Aaron, meet with MARY to discuss SENIOR SUPERS.
  • GRADING: I HAVE to get some grading done. Please come see me TODAY to grade your CAPTIONING assignments and your SOCIAL MEDIA assignment from this week. If you DO NOT, you will receive a ZERO on these assignments.
• SEVENTH PERIOD:
  • ADVERTISING: We discuss ADVERTISING. EVERY staff member has an assigned business to contact on the 2023 BUSINESS AD PROJECT. You are also required to sell a second ad, in addition to your "Gimmee" Ad on the project table. Please grab a Yearbook, a Sales Pricing List and a Sales Book and SELL ADS!
  • GRADING: I HAVE to get some grading done. Please come see me TODAY to grade your CAPTIONING assignments and your SOCIAL MEDIA assignment from this week. If you DO NOT, you will receive a ZERO on these assignments.
• WHAT'S DUE:
  • TODAY: Your 4 "Week One" Photos with captions should be copied into the WEEK ONE ASSIGNMENT FOLDER FOR GRADING TODAY.
  • TODAY: Put your completed, beautiful SOCIAL MEDIA POST into the WEEK TWO ASSIGNMENT FOLDER FOR GRADING TODAY.
  • NEXT MONDAY: Please put together a small portfolio of 5 CLASSROOM ACTIVITY PHOTOGRAPHS, complete with EXTENDED CAPTIONS, PROPER FILENAMES and TAGGED PHOTOS.
  • BUSINESS AD PROJECT: Due in two weeks!

PLEASE USE THE CODE ON THE OVERHEAD TO JOIN MR. B.'S GOOGLE CLASSROOM. You have TWO assignments on there, both due today. You will be doing extended captions for a total of 5 images, four that you created and one of Mr. B.'s choosing. HERE IS THE CLASSROOM LINK, IF THAT IS EASIER.

7TH PERIOD- YEARBOOK WRITING WORKSHOP- We do some Yearbook learning- "Captions in Depth" Slide Show and discussion, followed by the "First Day Selfies Captioning Exercise." You will need to figure out how to get your PHOTOS from your phone or your camera to a location that it can be uploaded to the Google Form. Ask around, others for help, if you need it!

YOUR NEW PROJECT, DUE NEXT CLASS: Please complete the SOCIAL MEDIA POST PROJECT, using one of the photographs that you wrote about for the two assignments above.

LAST THING OF THE DAY: LOG OUT OF YOUR CHROME ON YOUR COMPUTER!

Welcome Back!

Names and Introductions.

Mr. B. discussed Yearbook and the rules therein.

COMPUTER LOGIN- THIS IS NEW THIS YEAR:

• ON THE TECH LAB COMPUTERS, you will first need to log in to the machine first.
  • USERNAME= TECH1, TECH2, etc. This number is on the sticker on the top of your computer tower. For instance, Computer HS-104-8 is "TECH8"
  • Password= "Technology1!"
• First thing to do when your computer is logged on (it may already be on when you come into the room!) is to open CHROME and log in with your school Google Account. This will let you access the Internet.
• Then, navigate to highlandtechnology.org and BOOKMARK page!
• Navigate to yearbookavenue.com and BOOKMARK page!

ACTIVITY TIME! First, we will have some fun and use our CELL PHONES at the same time! Mr. B. will give you 8 minutes to go out onto the campus (do not disrupte any other classes!) and TAKE PICTURES (you can use your phone or a Yearbook camera, if you wish). You need to take pictures that represent THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL and you need to have a picture of YOU and a completely different picture of another person (probably another Yearbook person.) GET CREATIVE! You have 8 minutes. Bring your photos back to the Tech Lab.
