DATE Information/Activities/Projects and Assignments

IMPORTANT YEARBOOK INFORMATION:

2025-2026 HIGHLAND MASTER SCHEDULE

TUESDAY
2/24/26

FOR TODAY:  We discuss our plans to complete our book by the 13th of March.  This includes "YEARBOOK WORK DAYS" on Thursday, 2/26 and Tuesday, 3/3.  ALL ELIGIBLE STAFF MEMBERS will report to the Tech Lab at the end of First Period on those two days.  Please come prepared to work for the REST OF THOSE SCHOOL DAYS on Yearbook.  This is an excused absence (kind of like a Field Trip) approved by Mr. Naughton for all Yearbook staff that are NOT on the Eligibility List.  Everyone will be expected to WORK on completing our deadlines during these times.  Staff that are NOT working will be sent to regular classes and their grades will be negatively affected.

Dana has been invited to come for both of these days, if she can.  We will be having an after school work day on Friday, as needed, to have elements on ALL pages and submit pages 1-32, as per our agreement with Dana yesterday.  Dana will come by on Monday afternoon and will bring pizza for an evening work day.

We are being given a chance to finish our book on time.  PLEASE take this seriously and come help us meet our Deadlines.

OUR DEADLINE for submitting all pages for our last deadline is March 13th, in 7 class Periods from right now.  If we can submit 56 pages in these 7 class periods, we will make our deadline.

WORK FOR TODAY:  We did manage to send 8 pages to the factory since last class period.  To be able to meet our deadline on 3/13, we need to send 8 pages each class period, including today.  PLEASE review your pages for missing elements.  If there is a story or a photo missing, FIX IT RIGHT NOW, somehow.  If we have to substitute a photo or a story to get a page sent in, we need to do it.  We have NO MORE TIME FOR WAITING.

CLASS DISCUSSION:  We review our discussion of Thursday. We have to have our ENTIRE BOOK SUBMITTED to the factory by MARCH 13th. So far, we have submitted 28 our of the 72 pages that have had deadlines so far. Our deadline is in 9 and a half class periods. PLEASE, do what you can to complete ALL PAGES to factory quality. We need to be submitting 8 completed pages EVERY CLASS PERIOD to be able to meet our deadline. IF WE DO NOT MEET OUR DEADLINE, we will NOT have a book delivered at the end of this year.  It will be delivered at the start of next year or possibly over the summer, instead.

YOUR DEADLINE for completing ALL TEACHER PAGES, ALL STUDENT LIFE PAGES, ALL FALL SPORTS PAGES AND ALL HOMECOMING PAGES is this FRIDAY.  This will be a 100 point assignment in the gradebook.

THURSDAY
2/12/26

CLASS DISCUSSION: I spent time this morning going over EVERY SINGLE PAGE in our book and putting comments of what needs to be fixed.

I WAS SHOCKED AT THE ABSOLUTE LACK OF EFFORT AND INTEGRITY ON OUR PAGES.

Page after page had incorrect title formats, missing color blocks, incorrect teacher name formatting, missing elements.  THIS IS JUST UNACCEPTABLE.  These are things that I would expect to see back in SEPTEMBER, when we are first learning how to put the book together.  It is FEBRUARY.  Our final deadline is in a month and a half for the ENTIRE BOOK.

I can't wait anymore.  If I am going to put this book together with just the 4 or 5 people that are doing work, I will.  I want EVERY SINGLE COMMENT on all pages FIXED.  All teacher pages completed by NEXT FRIDAY.  This will be a 100 point assignment and if it is not completed, you will be failing this class.  Failing students will be put into online JOURNALISM CLASS FOR THE REST OF THE SEMESTER.  It will be boring and you will hate it.  If you don't want that to happen, DO YOUR JOB, GET YOUR PAGES DONE and START BEING AN ACTUAL YEARBOOK STAFF MEMBER!

HERE IS THE WEEKLY UPDATE FORM FOR THIS WEEK, Please complete it before you leave today.

MONDAY
2/9/26
&
TUESDAY
2/10/2026

PAGES NEED TO BE PROPERLY COMPLETETED!  I have met with all staff members that are assigned to pages and shown you IN DETAIL how your page should look and what your stories and captions should look like.  So far, a LOT of pages still have inadequate stories, missing text, duplicated text, missing names, etc.  Please spend time RIGHT NOW reading every word on your pages and FIXING any issues.  ALSO, please TAG all of your photos on your pages.  We have not tagged any additional students in the last TWO WEEKS.

YEARBOOK ASSIGNMENTS TO HELP US GET OUR DEADLINES MET:

  1. DAVID AND EMILY:  Story Editors.  See Mr. B.  You will be reviewing TEXT CONTENT on each page and fixing grammar, spelling and logic issues.
  2. JAYLENE AND MADISON:  Editors.  Please review and fix any LAYOUT or PAGE ELEMENT ISSUES on any pages that should be at factory.
  3. HUNTER, EMILY, KENNEDY, RHIANNON, SKYLER, MARIELA, KESLIV:  You all have assigned pages that need to be COMPLETED and made ready for factory.  I need those pages DONE within the next two weeks.  The only exceptions would be WINTER SPORTS and OUT OF DISTRICT pages, but all other pages, such as FASHION, SIBLINGS, SUPERLATIVES, etc.  Need to be FINISHED.  I want ALL PAGES completed except for WINTER SPORTS/OUT OF DISTRICT by FEBRUARY 20th.  This will be a MAJOR GRADE in the gradebook.  No excuses, no "I couldn't get a sound" or "I couldn't get a photo."  MAKE IT HAPPEN.
  4. ALL PAGE EDITORS: Please help by TAGGING any and all photos that are missing tags.  This is the core of our INDEX page and needs to be completed.
  5. ALL STAFF:  We still need about 2000 dollars worth of BUSINESS ADS.  Please help meet this goal, so that we do not need to do another round of BUSINESS AD PROJECTS.
  6. IT ISN'T TOO EARLY to talk about what is next.  I need volunteers to work with JAYLENE as the EDITOR IN CHIEF of the SUPPLEMENT, our 8 page "SPRING ADDITION" that covers Track, Baseball and Prom."  We also now have the assignment of the NEXT YEAR'S THEME PROJECT, as well.  If you "don't have anything else to do" (hard to imagine, with us being 60 pages behind in our deadlines), please work on this large project!
