Students have been grouped into teams and will be competing to see which team is will win the title and the rewards due to the "Civil Government Apprentices."
THE RULES: Students will compete as a group and must complete a number of tasks that will demonstrate knowledge of the topics being discussed during class. The teams that score the highest on their challenges will move on to the next round of the competition. The remaining teams will be eligible for elimination from the competition, depending on their performances. Here are some specific rules regarding the competition:
- Teams must complete all tasks in a professional manner. Any instances of PLAGIARISM, CHEATING or other improper and unsportsmanlike behavior will result in disqualification from the tasks at hand, with possible other academic consequences, as well.
- All tasks will be GRADED ASSIGNMENTS for all students.
- Eliminated teams will still be required to complete future tasks as a team, but will not be eligible for rewards and titles.
- Students that do not participate in an appropriate manner in class or in their group will be removed from the competition. They will still be required to complete all tasks for grades, but will do so independently. They will not be eligible for rewards or titles.
- Students receiving the title of "Civil Government Appentice" will receive up to 200 extra credit points for the semester. An additional reward will be offered for the HWP of non-winning teams of up to 100 extra credit points for the semester. This award will not be given to the SMARTEST student, but rather the student that has worked the hardest on all tasks.
- All tasks will be judged, whereever possible, by faculty, staff, administration and other community members. Scoring will be allocated on a 4, 3, 2, 1 basis.
- Highest aggregate score for each week will be declared the winner for that week and will receive an advantage going into the next week of competition.
- Non-winning teams each week will all be eligible for elimination. Teams will be brought to the Board Room to discuss their successes or failures. The team that Mr. Burkhard deems to be least successful on their weekly tasks will be fired.
- Mr. Burkhard reserves the right to terminate the competition and all awards and prizes AT ANY TIME, if students are not taking the competition seriously enough or if the products in tasks is substandard.
