Civil Government Apprentice, Week ONE:  "Elastic Clause Political Cartoon"

ASSIGNMENT: This assignment for Civil Government Apprentice, Week ONE will involve the powers of Congress.  Groups must create a POLITICAL CARTOON that reflects the purpose, meaning and/or problems with the ELASTIC CLAUSE, as outlined in Article I of the Constitution.

THE CARTOON:  Groups must create an ORIGINAL Political Cartoon regarding the Elastic Clause.  Students must not only understand the purpose and operation of the Elastic Clause, but must also research the meaning and formats of political cartoons to be considered for credit on this assignment.  The cartoon itself should be presented on an 8 1/2 by 11 inch format.  It may be hand-drawn or computer created.  However, cartoons must look professional when completed.

JUDGEMENT:  Judging of this assignment will be done by the HHS art department based on the artistic value of the piece, as well as political content of the cartoon itself.

A WORD OF WARNING: Any political cartoons that blatantly steal ideas, images or messages of pre-existing political cartoons will be automatically rejected for consideration.
