Dreamweaver Assignment:
"The Favorite Links Page"

THE ASSIGNMENT: Using Macromedia Dreamweaver, students will create a basic webpage with links to some of their favorite websites.

BEFORE YOU START: You HAVE TO have defined a website in Dreamweaver. If you have not done this yet, please check out one of the following links:

HOW TO PROCEED: Complete the following steps:

  1. In Dreamweaver, make a NEW BASIC PAGE- HTML.
  2. Save this page to your WEBSITES folder, call it “Lastname_links.html”
  3. Change the colors of the background of your page, the text on your page and the links on your page. Make sure that these colors do not hide each other.
  4. Give your page a TITLE. Something similar to “Mr. B.’s Favorite Website Links” would be great!
  5. First line of the page, large centered letters: “My Favorite Websites”
  6. Next lines, smaller centered letters: Begin listing, one after another, WORKING LINKS to the following types of webpages:
    • 4 websites to buy things.
    • 3 websites to listen to or learn about music.
    • 3 websites to read about sports or entertainment.
    • 1 website to go to get free email.
    • 2 websites having to do with jobs or careers.
    • 3 websites that you might use to do research for a school paper.
    • 1 link to the highlandtechnology.org website (hey, you go there all the time!)
    • 3 other favorite websites of your choice (if your favorites are blocked, select a different site!).
  7. Use the FILE>SAVE and FILE>PREVIEW IN BROWSER command or F12 button to preview your webpage to make sure all links are working properly.

SUBMITTING YOUR WORK:

  1. Make sure your webpage is saved as "Lastname_links.html”.
  2. Using “My Computer”, copy this FILE (not the entire websites folder!) to the dropbox for your class period.

GRADING: This assignment is worth 50 points for proper completion: Two Points for each link that works and 10 points for the Title of the webpage!
