WORK DAY: Contemporary Issues Research Paper and Three Chair Debate Project Sheet. For today, you should be gathering your initial data, determining the facts and the figures and ascertaining all of the pros and cons of your issue. In your internet searches, I highly recommend searching for terms on GOOGLE NEWS, this will give you much better information than a general google search. You will likely need to be very persistent in your search for information, don't give up!  Feel free to use your phones for research, if you would like.

Remember, your final goal is an "Information Station," that demonstrates all of the necessary information regarding your issue to the others in the class, as well as a 2-5 page position paper outlining the issue and your logically supported opinion regarding the issue.

If students do not appear to be working on their Research Paper or Project, we will instead conduct our lecture regarding SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS. This WILL NOT move the due date of the projects back in any way!

"INFORMATION STATION" Presentations today. Set up your station so that other students that visit you can gather your information. When everyone is set up, we will start working on our stations.

Visiting an Information Station: Please take your notebooks and take EXTENSIVE notes regarding the issue you are researching. You will be responsible for arguing the Pros and Cons of a number of issues selected at random during next class period. Should you not have good notes or information from your station visit, your grade WILL suffer.

THINGS TO WATCH FOR:  It should be EXTREMELY CLEAR what your issue is and what the PRO arguments stand for and what the CON arguments stand for.  Please remember to include your SOURCES on your presentation materials (these should be in APA format, not merely listed as links on a slideshow!)

Please Note:  You MUST complete an "Information Station Opinion Sheet" before you leave today!  This will be part of your grade and will be used to decide who is involved in the debates next class period!
