BACKGROUND:
We have been working on creating our yearbook for most of this semester
and all students should be familiar with the use of yearbookavenue.com
as a tool for page creation. For this Final Examination, students
will be creating an exciting and creative yearbook page given only
some photographs and our current Yearbook page theme.
OPENING YOUR FINALS PAGE:
Each student has an already-created PRACTICE PAGE called LASTNAME_FALL_FINAL on yearbookavenue.com.
To find your page, simply log in to yearbookavenue.com and select CREATE>
PAGE DESIGNER from the home page menu. |
 |
Once the page loads, select
the DESIGNS tab on the right side of the screen. From the PULL DOWN
MENU at the top of the DESIGNS panel, select PRACTICE PAGES (You may have to SCROLL UP to see this!). |
 |
Once you
have found your "LASTNAME_FALL_FINAL" PAGE, click on the blue "i" icon |
 |
On the resulting DIALOGUE BOX, click EDIT. |
 |
You are now ready to begin creating
your page. |
 |
CREATING THE PAGES: You
are a member of the yearbook staff and your yearbook
editor has asked you to create page number 4, the "SUMMER ACTIVITIES" page.
She has provided you with ten different summer photographs from the students at the school (all of which are having way more fun than normal teenagers ever have over summer vacation), which
are already included on your PRACTICE PAGE.
Following all of the guidelines from this year's YEARBOOK PAGE TEMPLATE, create a vibrant and interesting yearbook page. Keep
in mind the following
points
as you create your page:
- You DO NOT have to include a CHRONOLOGICAL STRIP at the bottom of your page! This is the ONLY PAGE TEMPLATE element that you can leave off of this design. Otherwise, please have your design cover the entire page.
- You can ONLY use the ten photographs already on your page. If necessary,
you can delete any of the photos that you wish, but you cannot add
any other pictures. Feel free to resize or crop your photographs
to fit your needs.
- You will need to use FOUR of the photographs on the page for your vertical strip of photos with captions.
- There is one MASK on your page. As a MASK is a page requirement, you will need to use it in your page design. Resize, as needed.
- You will need to select one of the photographs to be your EPIC photo, complete with extended caption and mini-headline over tinted block.
- You MUST include a catchy PAGE TITLE that informs
the reader about the content on your page.
- You can use ANY colors you wish on your page to make it interesting and exciting.
You
DO NOT
have to use the school colors on your page, but can if you wish.
- You must use the proper FONTS and FONT SIZES as outlined on the PAGE TEMPLATE.
- You must follow all other rules as laid out in the PAGE TEMPLATE.
- You MUST include STORIES and CAPTIONS for each of your photographs and each
caption will be completed using the proper captioning format discussed in class this semester. Captions will include the names and grades of the people in the photograph and descriptions of the activities shown in the photo. YOUR STORIES AND CAPTIONS NEED TO BE FACTORY QUALITY! DO NOT just write "Fred plays baseball." and think that you will get a good grade on this final. You
do not know any of these people, so just make up names and grades. Use your imagination regarding the details of the events being pictured.
- MAKE SURE TO SAVE YOUR PAGE AS YOU GO!
FINAL COMPLETION: All students that are not exempt MUST complete this
Final Examination or risk receiving an incomplete for this course. Exempt students do not
have to take the exam, but may wish to, if they feel that it may increase
their grade. Should a student be exempt from the midterm and perform
poorly, their grade will NOT be used in calculating their semester grade.
