BACKGROUND: You are taking a difficult Yearbook Final and Mr. B. is not here to help you. This being the case, please refer to the FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS below:
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS REGARDING THE FINAL EXAM IN YEARBOOK:
- WHERE IS MR. B.? Thanks for asking! Mr. B. is on an airplane to Cleveland, Ohio to visit family.
- DO I HAVE TO TAKE THIS TEST?: If you are sitting there, probably so. You might as well try hard and do your best.
- HOW DO I START? Follow the VISUAL INSTRUCTIONS on the final exam page to open the PRACTICE PAGE that is already saved for you in your name (it is called FIRSTNAME_FALL_FINAL).
- HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DESIGN THESE PAGES? I have been telling you all week, use the LOOK BOOKS in the middle of the room for inspiration! Please put them back when you are done!
- WHAT IS WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL? It is Mr. B.'s high school alma mater, near Cleveland, Ohio.
- CAN I JUST USE MY OWN PHOTOS, SCHOOL, COLORS OR PAGE TOPIC? No. You MUST use the photos provided and the school, colors and mascot as outlined. If you do not, you will fail the final exam.
- SHOULD THESE PAGES LOOK LIKE THE ONE IN OUR BOOK THIS YEAR? NO! If they do, you will fail the final. You MUST come up with your own creative layout and design!
- DO I HAVE TO USE ALL OF THE PHOTOS? No. You can delete some, if necessary. The choices are yours.
- CAN I RESIZE THE PHOTOS? Of course! You MUST resize to be able to create your pages.
- DO I HAVE TO MAKE UP STORIES FOR THESE PAGES? Yes. These pages should look FACTORY READY when you are done, complete with all stories, text, titles, photos, layout, design, spell checking, etc.
- I DON'T KNOW THESE PEOPLE IN THE PHOTOS, HOW CAN I WRITE STORIES ABOUT THEM? Use your imagination. Make things up.
- WHAT IS A "PULL OUT STORY"? A side story that explains a special photograph or event. You will need to include one of these if you want anything close to an A on this Final. (Mr. B. would recommend pull out stories regarding the older gentleman in the parade with his son and the wheelchair and/or gay couples on the dance page.)
- IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO PUT ON THESE PAGES? You need to include anything that a good yearbook page would have- titles, subheads, captions, quotes, design elements, page numbers, page titles, page authors, story text, colors, shapes, fonts, etc.
- ARE THERE ANY GOOD FONTS TO USE FOR THIS FINAL PAGE? Yes, Mr. B. has turned on a number of creative and interesting fonts for your use on this final examination.
- CAN I JUST PUT IN SOME CAPTIONS AND BE DONE? Not if you want a good grade! A title and some blocky photos and captions will get you a sub-50 percent failing grade on this final.
- HOW SHOULD I SAVE THIS PROJECT? Early and often! Hit the save button every five minutes or so, so that you don't lose your work. DO NOT save your page under a different name or location, or Mr. B. will not be able to locate it.
- HOW MUCH IS THIS WORTH? Enough points to lower your grade by a full grade level if you do poorly or increase it by a full grade level if you do well.
