The Yearbook/Journalism STUDENT LIFE PAGE ASSIGNMENT

BACKGROUND:

As a method of demonstrating work ethic and ability to make a deadline, Journalism students will create a Student Life practice page by Deadline ONE.

THE ASSIGNMENT:

Journalism students will be creating Student Life yearbook practice pages (already created on yearbook avenue, called "lastname_topic", complete with all required elements of a page by the due date of Deadline ONE.

THE PAGES:

STAFF PAGE
CHEYENNE SIBLINGS (brothers and sisters at HHS)
EMILY FEAR: What strange things students might be afraid of at HHS.
MELODY AFTER SCHOOL/WEEKENDS: What do HHS students do when not in school?
BRANDON WHAT'S IN YOUR? The strange things that HHS students keep in their backpacks, pockets, cars, lockers, etc. Complete with photos of the people and objects.

THE REQUIRED ELEMENTS: Journalism students must complete ALL of the following for their page:

  1. Creation of a double PRACTICE PAGE for their topic.
  2. A ONE WORD TITLE for your page that fits with the template of BE_____________. Executed on your page with the proper font and layout.
  3. A 2-3 PARAGRAPH (HIGHLAND SPECIFIC) introduction to the written story on your page, including material used from your interviews.
  4. A series of in-depth interviews of AT LEAST FOUR STUDENTS, ONE FROM EACH CLASS, discussing their involvedment in your topic.
  5. ACTION PHOTOS and detailed captions, using the proper format of the students interviewed for the page.
  6. A MASKED IMAGE for your page, also captioned.
  7. BACKGROUND PHOTO possibles named and placed into the BACKGROUND FADE photos.

MATERIALS/DUE DATE FOR YOUR PAGE: Elements for this project should be evident ON THE YEARBOOK PAGE by the DEADLINE ONE due date, the third week of October. Keep copies of any written work and interviews.

GRADING: Grading to be determined. Success on this project will be required to allow the student to move on to being a Yearbook staff member in charge of the assigned page.
