The Yearbook/Journalism PAGE ASSIGNMENT #1

BACKGROUND:

As a method of beginning work on the creation of yearbook pages, staff will be completing a number of page tasks each week.

THE ASSIGNMENT:

This week, you will be completing a number of page activities for one of your pages this year, as outlined below.

THE TASKS: Staff will complete the following for the pages, as assigned above:

  1. An INTERVIEW with a coach or teacher for your subject. Include quotes! If you cannot possibly meet with a coach or teacher, see me for alternatives.
  2. A CAPTIONED photograph/portrait of your INTERVIEW subject, suitable for use on your page with your quote.
  3. A ONE WORD TITLE for your page that fits with the template of BE_____________. Executed on your page with the proper font and layout.
  4. A ONE PARAGRAPH (HIGHLAND SPECIFIC) introduction to the written story on your page, including material used from your interview
  5. A BACKGROUND PHOTOGRAPH/IDEA for your page. This will be selectively colored and faded, if possible.

MATERIALS FOR YOUR PAGE: Elements for this project should be evident ON THE YEARBOOK PAGE by the due date. Keep copies of any written work and interviews.

DUE DATE: This assignment will be due at the end of class on MONDAY, September 8th.

GRADING: Grading to be determined. Success on this project will be critical for being allowed to move on to actual page creation.
