Flash Assignment: Frame-by-Frame Animation- "The Painting"

Introduction to Flash Animation: FRAME BY FRAME ANIMATION

Overview:

Students will be using their newfound Flash skills to create a short animation in which a painted picture is created using frame-by-frame animation. Here is Mr. B.'s "Painting" animation= "Growing Things."

The Project:

  1. Start with a blank stage, you can change the color of the stage if you wish.
  2. Think of what your want your final picture to look like. Any scene is fine, realistic or abstract.
  3. On FRAME ONE, use a BRUSH tool in the color of your choosing, brush ONE STROKE of you picture onto the canvas.
  4. Go out ONE FRAME, insert a KEYFRAME.
  5. Draw another stroke of your picture.
  6. Rinse and Repeat until your picture is completely finished and your stage is completely covered with brushstrokes of color. (MAKE SURE TO CREATE AT LEAST 50 Keyframes!)
  7. IF YOU CHANGE COLORS: make sure that you use the Black Selection Arrow and click on the background of your stage to DESELECT your keyframe, or when you change colors, it will change the color of EVERYTHING on your stage!
  8. Now, put in another KEYFRAME on frame 51 (or higher, if you have more frames in your painting) use the TEXT tool to put your name in the lower right corner of your artwork, INSERT ONE LETTER PER KEYFRAME!
  9. When you are all done with your NAME animation on your painting, go out 20 frames and put in another KEYFRAME. This will hold your animation for a few seconds so that the viewer can see it.
  10. Hit Ctrl-Enter to preview your movie.
