AutoCAD
Assignment 2: Circles and Trim: Modified for Green 1st Period and
students that missed last class period.
|
BEFORE YOU START: Create a “lastname_AutoCAD_2” folder on your network space. Save all of the following drawings into this folder. SOME OPENING TUTORIALS: We are going to be doing some figures that require the use of the OBJECT SNAP and POLAR TRACKING tools in AutoCAD. Before attempting any of these problems, watch the following video tutorials regarding the use of those two commands. Make sure you set your computer with the same options as in the video!:
A lot of the challenge and the “fun” of AutoCAD is figuring out exactly how to complete a drawing. As an example, please follow along on the following video tutorial where Mr. B. completes the first problem of your assignment today, RED BOOK, Page 33, Problem 1. PART ONE OF YOUR ASSIGNMENT: DRAWING 1: Page 33, Problem 1. (You just went through this tutorial above. Save it to your “lastname_AutoCAD_2” folder, so you can get credit for it.) Save as drawing1.dwg. TWO MORE QUICK TUTORIALS: We are also going to learn a little bit about the AutoCAD CIRCLE and TRIM commands for use in the next couple of problems. Watch the next two Tutorials regarding these commands, then do the following problems:
NOW, THE REST OF THE ASSIGNMENT: DRAWING 2: Page 80, Problem 6. (ONLY DRAW the front of this plate, you do not have to draw it in 3D. Sorry, but there is a little bit of math on this problem!) DRAWING 3: Page 82, Problem 8. (Assume that the center circle is centered between the semi-circle on the left and the square on the right.) DRAWING 4: Page 119, Problem 2. (Make sure your OBJECT SNAP-QUADRANT is turned on to find the right and left sides of the circle.) DRAWING 5: Page 79, Problem 4. (This problem is not as hard as it looks! RADIUS of trimmed circles on the pill shape at the bottom of the figure should read R0.25 ) CHALLENGE PROBLEM- DRAWING 6: Page 907, Problem 9. (There is some math involved here to figure out some of the dimensions, don’t be afraid to use a calculator. By the way, it is a challenge problem! No asking for help from the teacher!) SUBMITTING YOUR WORK: COPY your “lastname_AutoCAD_2” folder to Mr. B.’s M: Drive Drop Box Folder for your class period. (Forget how? Watch this video on submitting files to the DROPBOX!) |
