BEFORE YOU START: For this project, you will be relating the history of the video games in your chosen favorite video game genre. You will be using your research skills and yoru editing skills to put together a short "documentary" outlining the evolution of landmark games in your genre. PART ONE: Deciding your Genre: In class, we completed a BELLRINGER regarding your FAVORITE VIDEO GAME GENRE. Use this as the basis for this project. PART TWO: Researching Genre History: Part of the work for this project is doing some research into the history of this genre. You will need to compile a small FAMILY TREE of at least FIVE GAMES from your genre, going back to the first game of your genre, all the way up to your current favorite. As much of this information will be blocked on the school network, I fully expect you to be using AI to assist with this part of the assignment. I am expecting you to use AI write your script for you when it comes to discussing the contributions of the games that you are researching. Please make sure that the AI sounds LOGICAL and RELEVANT to your topics as you go. CHATGPT or DeepSeek would be good options for this project, because they both have pretty up to date information, which will be particularly useful in helping you figure out what games you want to include in your history and the contributions of each game. Here is a detailed CHATGPT QUERY regarding the "ULTIMA" series of video games and their importance in the historgy of RPG video games. Your QUERIES should be of similar depth. USE THIS to craft your script for your video! Here is the response that I received from CHATGPT from the above query. Notice that I can use this to create my script! PART THREE: GENRE DEFINITIONS: For this project, you will first need to describe your favorite genre to your audience. What characteristics define your genre? What can a gamer expect when playing a game of your genre? Be ready to show game footage that helps to make your point. PART FOUR: GAME CONTRIBUTIONS: Next, you will be briefly describing and showing footage from each of the games in your game family tree. As you are using AI to help you write your script, make sure that you emphasize what the game brought to the genre as the genre evolves. PART FIVE: CAPTURING, EDITING and RECORDING: You will need to actually have a script (written with AI assistance) which outlines each of your games and their contributions to your genre. You will use these to create your AI voiceovers regarding your games. This will be done with the FILMORA AI TEXT TO SPEECH tool. I would like you to do a VOICE CLONE, so that your AI VOICE sounds like you. Then, have the TEXT TO SPEECH read your script for you. Follow the steps below:
I did this with my voice and use the clone to do TEXT TO SPEECH for a passage about the history of RPG VIDEO GAMES. It came out like this, notice the CLOSED CAPTIONING:
As your script reviews the games in your genre, you will need to include GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE from each game. You should be able to locate this on YOUTUBE and record the SCREEN in FILMORA or save the YOUTUBE videos. Edit as needed, to fill in your story with video gameplay. ALTERNATELY: If we are struggling with FILMORA voice cloning or text to speech, we could try using Capcut. Here is a video on how to use Voice Cloning and Text to Speech with CapCut:
PART SIX- FINISHING UP: You will need to add your INTRO that you created for your first project. You will also need closing credits (to include credits of any online material that you have used) and music (I recommend quiet background music that does not distract from your presentation, make sure to include this in your closing credits!) When you are ALL done, review your work for errors and mistakes, then EXPORT it as an MP4 video, named LASTNAME_GENRE_HISTORY.MP4. Put it in the GENRE_HISTORY_PROJECT folder on the YELLOW DRIVE.) SAMPLE PROJECT: The following is Mr. B.'s version of this project. Please note that this was created using CAPCUT's Voice Cloning and Text to Speech. In just one year of technological advancement, the quality of the voice clone and the ability to properly inunciate sentences has greatly improved!
GRADING: This will be a 100 point project and I will be grading this based on the following criteria:
