TECHNOLOGY 1: "HHS BY AIR" PROJECT

The ProjectHHS BY AIR”, an introductory videography project.

Premise: While we do not have access to our drones this year, we do have an archive of some old drone footage that we can use to create a nice "Environmental Video" of the HHS grounds, like you might see on a school website or advertising media.

Learning Materials: You will need to learn some of the basics of how to use and edit with Wondershare Filmora 13. You may already know how to do editing, and that's great, but I fully expect you to be a MASTER of the information in this video! Please review all of the video, but I have included a timestamp of the different topics covered underneath the video (unfortunately, the video's chapters were lost when I downloaded the clip.) PLEASE NOTE- Not wanting to review the video or "not having time" is NOT an excuse substandard work.:

  • 1:00- STARTING A PROJECT
  • 2:00- IMPORTING MEDIA
  • 5:00- SAVING PROJECTS
  • 5:30- USING THE TIMELINE
  • 7:00- EDITING CLIPS
  • 10:30- MANAGING TRACKS
  • 14:30- CHROMA KEY
  • 15:30- ANIMATING CLIPS
  • 17:00- EDITING SOUND
  • 19:00- AI IMAGES (may not work on our systems)
  • 21:00- TEXT AND EFFECTS
  • 23:30- TRANSITITIONS
  • 25:00- STICKERS AND STUFF
  • 27:00- EXPORTING VIDEO

The Product: You will be creating a 45-60 second video, including music, title and credits that shows HHS by air from past members of the STEM-Drones classes. Your video should include the following:

  • 10-15 video clips. These should be moving videos that demonstrate different landmark locations at Highland High School or the surrounding area. Make sure to include videos of the following:.
    • HHS Building
    • Middle School Building
    • Admin Building
    • Football Field
    • Back of building
  • Your clips in your final video should be no more than 4-5 seconds in length.
  • Use proper transitions and/or clip changes to the beat of the music in your video from clip to clip.
  • Use of Filmora Music. I know, it's kinda cheesy, but the music isn't terrible and there are lots of genres to choose from. I wanted to use Filmora's AI Generated Music, but we do not seem to be able to actually download and play it, so....
  • Proper ATTRIBUTION of any music used in your credits (see below):
  • Inclusion of opening credits, which will include the name of your video and a "by NAME." text line.
  • Inclusion of closing credits, which will include a listing of all people that helped with the creation of your film, including "The HHS STEM Drones Classes of 2022 and 2023.

Getting Video Clips: Mr. B. has put together a library of video clips together for your perusal. They are on the YELLOW DRIVE in a folder called HHS_VIDEO_CLIPS. Review these and find which ones you want to use. COPY these to your own VIDEO_EDITING/HHS_BY_AIR folder. Create your project in this FOLDER. Export it as an MP4 video when you are done.

Editing your video clips: We will be using FILMORA 13 for this video editing project, the basics video tutorial is above. If you need help and have tried everything else, see Mr. B.

Grading:  You will be graded on your ability to select good, usable clips, edit your clips together, incorporate music properly and use FILMORA editing software. This will be a 100 point project assignment, graded as follows:

  • 25 points: Proper inclusion of OPENING TITLE and CLOSING CREDITS.
  • 25 points: Use of appropriate music. You should also properly attribute your music in your CLOSING CREDITS.
  • 25 points: Proper use of transitions in your video. These should be a constant in your video, not changing from transition to transition! Your transititions should also come on the BEAT of the music.
  • 25 points: Overall look and feel of the final product, which should show off the HHS campus and make it look appealing and welcoming!
