Computers and Technology:
AI Project- The Internet Safety Poster

Overview of the Project: We have been working in Canva, using our new design skills and our new AI Image generation skills. For this project, you will be putting ALL of those skills together to create your own Internet Safety Poster ("Even if you didn’t like the WOLF IN SHEEP’S CLOTHING video, it made a strong point: the internet isn’t always what it seems. Your job is to take your own message about staying safe online—and turn it into something powerful enough to stick with your audience.")

Getting Started:This project will unfold in parts. Please follow along below:

STEP ONE: You will be CHAT GPT for the brainstorming part of this project. Your first job is to come up with your idea:

  • You will need to copy and paste the following information into a Chat GPT window:

ROLE: You are a creative brainstorming assistant helping a high school student come up with ideas for a project.

    INSTRUCTIONS:

1-Ask me what my topic or goal is (for example, “I need an idea for a personal finance project,” or “I need a community service project idea”).

2- Generate 5–8 different ideas related to that topic.

3- For each idea, include: A short description (1–2 sentences) One “pro” (why it’s a good or interesting idea) One “con” (a challenge or possible downside)

4- End by asking which idea I’d like to explore further.

Keep all responses school-appropriate and written clearly for a high-school student.

STEP TWO: Use the Chat GPT window to get some ideas for your poster, select the one that you like best!

  • Once you have a good idea for your poster, you will go through the SAME PROCESS again to come up with some ideas for how to best ILLUSTRATE your idea. Again, use your own criteria to decide your ideas! If you want a DARK, MANGA CARTOON IMAGE SHOWING BLOOD AND DEATH to make your point, create it!

STEP THREE: Once you have your illustration idea, you can ask the system to help you figure out how to put the poster together! Make sure you tell the system what tools you have at your disposal- Chat GPT, DALL-E, CANVA, etc. Recently, we have found that the website at AMAZON NOVA is also a good source of images, as well.

You will be using any tools at your disposal to begin putting your poster together. I HIGHLY recommend using DALL•E. because it has the best image generation, but you could use Canva, whatever. I would recommend putting your FINAL POSTER together in CANVA. Please make this either a PORTRAIT or a LANDSCAPE poster, whichever works best for your needs.

STEP FOUR: You will need to put together a PROFESSIONALLY DESIGNED AND EXECUTED poster, based on your ideas and concepts from above. IF YOU NEED HELP, ASK CHATGPT FOR HELP! CHAT GPT IS VERY GOOD AT HELPING WITH IDEAS, STEPS THAT NEED TO BE TAKEN, REQUIRED ELEMENTS, ETC.

You will need to make sure that your MESSAGE is understood by your audience! Just typing 'THINK BEFORE YOU CLICK" at the top of a scary looking image of a keyboard and mouse covered with blood doesn't really mean anything!

You will also need to use REMOVE BACKGROUND, TEXT, SPECIAL EFFECTS, etc. to fill out your poster. I expect to see a number of different elements at play in your image, each AI generated by you! . IF YOUR POSTER LOOKS LIKE IT WAS MADE IN MIDDLE SCHOOL OR IF YOU POSTER LOOKS LIKE YOU GENERATED A SINGLE AI IMAGE, THREW SOME WORDS ON IT AND TURNED IT IN, YOU WILL RECEIVE A ZERO FOR THIS PROJECT!

STEP FIVE- Make sure your poster has ALL of the following:

  • An original internet safety message
  • At least one AI-generated image you prompted yourself
  • Use of Canva tools: text, effects, layers, remove background, etc.
  • A strong, clear visual design with intentional color and layout
  • Looks professional and hallway-worthy (not middle school!)

STEP FIVE- SUBMITTING YOUR WORK: PLEASE NOTE: If your INTERNET SAFETY POSTER DOES NOT LOOK AWESOME, I DON'T WANT IT. THIS SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT, IF IT WERE A POSTER IN THE HALLWAY, KIDS WOULD STOP AND CHECK IT OUT, BECAUSE IT IS SO COOL. By the way, if you finish this project in 5 minutes, you will receive a zero..

When you have created your INTERNET SAFETY POSTER, please SHARE>DOWNLOAD>JPG and then upload it to your COMPTECH folder for grading. This will be a 50 point project.
