The Project: “THE HALLWAY WALKING SPLIT SCREEN PROJECT.” An video editing Filmora X Editing Project.
Premise: We have just learned how to use the SPLIT SCREEN editing tool in Filmora X. This project wil feature that tool extensively.
The Model: The idea for this project comes from a Task in Season 14 of the BBC's Taskmaster: We will be doing this in pairs instead of individually, but the premise is the same, walk and interact with someone over a distance in a stylish way.
The Product: You will be partnered with another student in the class and will work as a team to create a split screen video. Your video clips will be filmed by an other class member and your clips will be edited by another team. The teams and photographer are as outlined below. Please note, you are doing a fun little project in class with someone, you do not need to become best friends, it is just a working partnership.:

HOW TO PROCEED: Please review all of the following-
- FILMING: For this project, you and your team member will be walking up the hallway, while being filmed. One team member will walk on the left side of the hallway, the other team member on the right side of the hallway.
- THE HALLWAY: We will be walking the ART ROOM HALLWAY from the line outside the ART ROOM RESTROOMS to the end of the hallway.
- THREE REQUIREMENTS: As you walk, three things must happen:
- You must cover the distance from the starting spot in the hallway to the ending spot in the hallway at exactly the same time as your partner.
- You must take AT LEAST 20 SECONDS to walk the hallway distance.
- In addition, you must "INTERACT" with your partner at least FOUR TIMES as you walk up the hallway. This means that you and your partner will be doing the exact same IDENTIFIABLE actions at the exact same time and location of your walk in the hallway.
- THE COMPLICATION: This seems easy. It isn't. You will be allowed to practice your walk and your moves/actions together for up to 15 minutes total (I recommend maybe coming up with your "routine" before you start practicing.) Then, you and your team mate will both walk the hallway separately, while your partner waits in another room. You will need to make sure that you walk on the proper SIDE OF THE HALLWAY as you perform and you will need to make sure that your timing is perfect, so that you both end up at the end of the hallway at the same time.
- ONE SHOT AT IT!: You only get ONE chance at performing your walk on camera. NO RESHOOTS!
- EDITING: When you have filmed your two video clips, these will be given to your editing team, who will each put these two clips together using the side-by-side split screen effect so that it looks like the two of you are walking together in the hallway at the same time.
- EDITING TEAM EXTRAS: Please include a proper title and closing credits and MOST IMPORTANTLY, MUSIC that fits the video clips and actions of the team you are editing for (be kind!).
Grading: This project is mostly being completed for fun and to demonstrate the proper use of the SPLIT SCREEN EFFECT. All students that participate will receive a grade of B (40 out of 50 points). The Team that is the closest to walking the hallway distance in exactly the same amount of time will receive 10 bonus points. The Team that interacts with each other in the most STYLISH WAY will receive 10 bonus points. These bonuses can go to the same team!
SUBMISSION: This will be completed and submitted for general viewing and laughter by the week after Thanksgiving Break.
