Media Productions: "Your Little Project"

The Project“Your Little Project”, a student choice production.

Premise: We have been working on project after project over the last couple of months and it seems that a lot of peole are getting frazzled.   In addition, we have CSAP week, Parent/Teacher Conferences and assorted other schedule anomolies and days off coming, so a structured project might be more problematic than it would be worth.  This being the case, I am asking students to prepare a product between now and the start of Spring Break on the 25th of March.

The Product:

Your product can be any of the following, but must follow the simple rules as listed:

  • A Video Production:  Must be between 60 and 120 seconds, be in an area of interest to you and include some aspect of videography and editing that you have not used before.
  • A Digital Photography Portfolio:  You will create a professional and polished (post-processed) portfolio of at least 20 photographs illustrating a common theme of your choice.  Because of the apparent "wander around and take pictures and not do any real work" aspect of Digital Photography, I will be EXTREMELY tough on my grading if you select this category.
  • A Sound Editing Project:  You will create a product of your choice using Sound Forge or Audacity Sound Editing tools.  Anything works here:  providing the soundtrack and dialogue for a movie clip, creating a dub-step version of a Charlie Sheen Interview, etc.
  • A Comic Life Graphic Story:  Must be between 30 and 50 frames and must include dialogue or captions that explain and progress the story.

Declaring Your Intentions:  You must meet with Mr. B. sometime before the end of class on Tuesday, March 15th and tell him what you will be working on.  I am not requiring a script or a storyboard on this project, as I would like to encourage experimentation and FUN!

Saving and Submitting: Make sure to save your project as a movie, using Vegas, categorize your Photographs in a folder, burn out your sound project as an MP3 or turn your comic into JPEGs. Copy your final files to the Q: Drive DROPBOX.

Grading:  I will grade this project solely based upon the polish of your final product and whether or not I like it.  Impress me!   This project will likely be worth 200 points, enough to drop anyone a letter grade for a poor grade.  If you do NOT meet with me and tell me your idea for your projects, I will subract 50 points from your grade!
