"Graphic Design: 'Husky Way' T-Shirt Design Contest"

THE PROJECT: We have been working on a ton of graphic design "problems" this semester and a contest is available for students to design a "Husky Way" T-Shirt to be printed for the student body to wear. This sounds like a great chance for a Graphic Design student to complete some design work AND have the opportunity to win a good cash prize. We are on a tight deadline for this project, as the T-shirt designs need to be submitted to Mr. Borger for judging by the end of the day on Friday, March 5th, 2015.

Here are the SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS regarding the creation of the T-shirt Design:

  • The design should include the following elements:

    • Designs for the FRONT and BACK of the T-shirt, with a smaller design on the front left breast and a larger design on the back of the T-shirt.
    • Design for the shirt should PROMINENTLY include the SEVEN PILLARS (refer to a student handbook for these, as needed.), as well as (possibly) the idea of the Husky Way "PATH."
    • Husky imagery or logos, preferably WITHOUT the Middle School Husky head in the H.
  • The design should be created at 10 x 10 inches at 300 dpi resolution.
  • The design will be created using ONLY THREE COLORS, probably to include Black and Green, but this is up to the designer.
  • The design on the front and the back should be DIFFERENT, with the larger, more thematic design being on the back.
  • I highly recommend finding some T-shirt clip art and placing your front and back designs on the shirt for presentation purposes, as well as keeping the original files. These should probably be saved as TRANSPARENT file format, such as a .GIF or a .TIFF for printing purposes.

CREATION and SUBMISSION OF THE T-SHIRT DESIGN: Be creative with your design! Just because you are restricted to three colors does not mean that you can't be extremely creative with the look of your shirt design. I would recommend saving your files and EMAILING it to Mr. Borger or sharing your files with him by googledocs.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: The winning T-shirt design will be awarded a FIFTY DOLLAR reward and a FREE SHIRT, when they are printed.
