"The Roots of Democracy" Assignment
The Roots of Democracy

BACKGROUND: For this assignment, you will be practicing the art of reading and taking notes. For most College Level Coursework, this will be a primary vehicle for learning course material.

TAKING NOTES (50 Points): Below, you will find an outline of the terms that are important regarding the development of Democracy in the United States. Using Chapter TWO of the McClenaghan “American Government” text, please record in your CIVIL GOVERNMENT NOTEBOOK and in your own words the meanings of the terms below. Be sure to include an approximate date for each term, as applicable. You can work together if you wish, but you MUST complete the notes in your own notebook! These notes will be the basis for most of our upcoming test.

NOTA BENE: One or two words for ANY of these definitions will not be sufficient.

THE DEMONSTRATION (50 Points): Each term will have a single student's name next to it. That student will be responsible for creating a single PowerPoint slide that will illustrate all of the following information regarding the term in question:

  • Write the term in BIG letters.
  • Include a brief description of the term.
