BACKGROUND: Students will be doing some analysis of historical Political Cartoons.

PROCEDURE: Here is the slideshow regarding Political Cartoons and their purposes and meanings that we covered in class: Political Cartoon Slideshow.

ANALYSIS: CLICK THROUGH TO THE GALLERY OF AMERICAN POLITICAL CARTOONS, a selection of cartoons pertaining to the major events of the last 160 years in the United States. Click on the small version to bring up larger images. Please review these and SELECT THREE to more closely analyze. Look for any of the main characteristics of the political cartoon outlined in the slide show. Try to interpret the message of the cartoon and how it is being delivered and to what effect. Once you think you have a good handle on the cartoons, please complete MAKE A COPY of the following GOOGLE DOC to your DRIVE and complete it by filling in the proper squares with your analysis.

Please put some time and effort into properly analyzing your cartoons. DO NOT simply write NONE for each characteristic, that will negatively effect your grade.

GRADING: This is a relatively straightforward assignment, and will be worth 100 points for completion.  Students will be graded almost solely on the level of thinking and effort put into their analysis of their two cartoons.
