"The President's Cabinet" Project

BACKGROUND: Students will conduct research into the inner workings of a Department on the President's Cabinet and provide the class with information about their department.

PROCEDURE: Below are the 15 current Cabinet Departments.  Students will complete basic research regarding one Department, beginning at the website:

allgov.com. (This; however, is a GREAT source of information, which will give you info about the SEAL of your department, the INDEPENDENT AGENCIES, the current issues, etc.)

Students are strongly encouraged to use additional resources on this project. Remember, this is a RESEARCH project. You will NOT be able to find all of the issues that you are to address in this project on a single webpage neatly arranged for your consumption.

HERE ARE THE LINKS TO THE EDITABLE GOOGLE SLIDES FILE THAT STUDENTS WILL MANIPULATE FOR THIS PROJECT:

REQUIRED ELEMENTS: Below is the order of the items that MUST be addressed in the press conference:

  1. A summary of the duties and activities of the Cabinet Department. You should be relating AT LEAST 3-6 separate duties of your Department.
  2. Review at least one or two independent agencies of your department that we might have heard of, such as the FBI, NASA, ICE, FAA, etc.
  3. Description of two of the MAIN current problems or issues facing the Department in detail. Please make sure that you are discussing CURRENT POST COVID ISSUES! Do not review some problem that the department faced back in 2014! (Make sure to use your GOOGLE SEARCH TOOLS TO SEARCH FOR RESULTS IN THE PAST MONTH OR SO!)
  4. Include an image of the SEAL OF YOUR DEPARTMENT on your slide! Please copy your Department Seal into the blank area on the left side of your slide.

PRESENTATION OF MATERIAL: You will be responsible for passing this information on to the rest of the students in the class. The format of this presentation are up to you, but you should be familiar with all information and should be ready to discuss and answer questions regarding your department..
