This notes sheet, along with a short assignment regarding political cartoons, will be due at the end of next class period.

Papers and Tests passed back today.  If you wish to complete TEST CORRECTIONS for the exam, you must do the following:

  • I will accept test corrections for NON-ESSAY questions only.
  • You MUST WRITE OUT the explanations for not only the correct answer, but ALSO explain why the incorrect answers are incorrect.
  • You MUST write out the correct answers for EACH question that you missed to be eligible for test correction points.
  • You must turn in your test corrections by the START of next class period.  Anything submitted later will not be accepted.
  • You must submit your test corrections AND your original test to be considered for test correction credit.
  • You will receive full credit for your test corrections if you follow the rules above.

WORK DAY: Students have requested an extra day to complete their "Student Rights Supreme Court Case Timeline Project." This is due TODAY!

In addition, EVERYONE in the room needs to be working on their Test Corrections for the recent exam. As many as 66 FREE points are available for some students if they will complete this exercise. The difficulties with the Gradebook are now worked out and a number of students have had their grades go drastically DOWN (2 students have grades of D, 6 students have grades of F!), meaning that they need as many points as they can get.

Depending on time, we will also spend some time today discussing two more rights cases that are in the news now.

WORK DAY: Students have requested an extra day to complete their "Student Rights Supreme Court Case Timeline Project." This is due TODAY!

In addition, almost EVERYONE in the room should be working on their Test Corrections for the recent exam. As many as 66 FREE points are available for some students if they will complete this exercise. The difficulties with the Gradebook are now worked out and a number of students have had their grades go drastically DOWN. Given that the Final Examination is CUMULATIVE TO LAST AUGUST, I would think that students should be trying to collect any points as they can get.

Depending on time, we will also spend some time today discussing two more rights cases that are in the news now and the student timelines that are due today.

Group Thinking Project: 10 Religious Freedom Cases: On a separate piece of paper, write the numbers 1-10 down the side, leaving space for some writing in between. Review each of the 10 Freedom of Religion cases. IDENTIFY the TEST that your group feels is in play in the decision. Also, please identify what position the Supreme Court took in each case and WHY. We will go over the results of each case in class tomorrow.

Today: We will quickly discuss the Second Amendment and some of the implications for the rights of citizens to own guns. Then, we will watch a total of 5 video clips regarding guns, gun owners' rights and gun control. We will also be answering some questions regarding the two videos.
