AutoCAD: EXAM TWO: Review Problems

The Assignment: For this assignment, we will be doing some review of all of the AutoCAD tools and techniques that we have learned since our last test in September. This will be a large test that covers lots of material.

THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS:

PROBLEM 1: MIRROR: RED BOOK, PAGE 238, Problem 3- Recreate this drawing to the best of your ability, using the MIRROR command where necessary. Please make sure to round corners!

PROBLEM 2: FILLET: RED BOOK, PAGE 221, Problem 9- Recreate this drawing to the best of your ability, using the FILLET command to create the rounded edges on the inside of the figure.

PROBLEM 3: CHAMFER: RED BOOK, PAGE 217, Problem 2- Recreate this drawing. DRAW the figure on the LEFT, then COPY the figure to create the figure on the RIGHT, then read the instructions for the problem in the book for specifics on how to complete this problem! DIMENSION the figure on the LEFT, using all proper rules for DIMENSIONING.

PROBLEM 4: RECTANGULAR ARRAY: Recreate the drawing below to the best of your ability, using the RECTANGULAR ARRAY command. NOTE that ONE of the figures is ROTATED 180 degrees. To accomplish this, select your completed ARRAY and then use the EXPLODE COMMAND (The exploding cube icon above OFFSET in the ribbon) to break your array back into its original parts. Then select the proper figure and rotate it, as needed.

PROBLEM 5: ROTATE: RED BOOK, PAGES 245 and 251, Figures 17-1 and 17-6. Recreate the drawing on Page 245. You may OMIT the outside rectangle from your drawing. You do not have to dimension this figure. When you are done, ROTATE this figure 25 degrees, so that it looks like the figure on page 251. Then, draw in the additional lines so that your drawing looks exactly like Figure 17-6 on Page 251. Make sure to include the outer rectangle and the N ARROW in the upper left corner!

PROBLEM 6: POLYLINE, OFFSET: RED BOOK, PAGE 192, Figure 14-4. Recreate the figure, using the POLYLINE command. WHEN YOU HAVE RECREATED THE FIGURE, USE THE OFFSET COMMAND TO OFFSET THE FIGURE BY A DISTANCE OF .2 TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE FIGURE! This will be the test of whether or not you used the POLYLINE command!

PROBLEM 7: POLYGON and POLAR ARRAY: RED BOOK, PAGE 45, Figure 4-10. Recreate this figure, using the POLYGON to create the center object. Using the CONTROL PANEL for OBJECT PROPERTIES (CTRL-1), color all of the lines in this figure RED.

PROBLEM 8: HATCH: RED BOOK, PAGE 294, Figure 20-102. Recreate this figure of a house. Use the HATCH command to fill the in the brick and line patterns, as appropriate.

PROBLEM 9: AREA: RED BOOK, PAGE 162. Recreate this figure of an office. DIMENSION the figure and use the AREA command to determine the AREA of the room. Using the TEXT tool, write the Area of the room next to the figure.

PROBLEM 9: TABLES- Use the TABLE command to fill in the table below. Use the FORMULA command to determine the totals of the rows and the column in the table (proper format for a multiplication formula is "a1*b1").

Number of Things in the Tech Lab:
THINGS NUMBER OF THINGS NUMBER OF WHEELS, KEYS, PAGES TOTAL NUMBER OF WHEELS, KEYS, PAGES
ROLLING CHAIRS (5 WHEELS PER CHAIR)   5
COMPUTERS (104 KEYBOARD KEYS)   104
RED AUTOCAD BOOKS (1152 PAGES IN BOOK)   1152
TOTAL OF ALL OF THE THINGS:

PROBLEM 10: CHALLENGE PROBLEM: RED BOOK, PAGE 917, Problem 26. Recreate and Dimension the drawing, as in the book.
